Recovery Near You marks Alcohol Awareness Week across Wolverhampton

Recovery Near You spent Alcohol Awareness Week last week engaging with communities across Wolverhampton, helping residents learn more about alcohol-related harm and the support available locally.

Throughout the week, our team attended a number of community events alongside our partners, including SUIT (Service User Involvement Team) and Good Shepherd, providing friendly advice, information and signposting to anyone wanting to know more about alcohol, recovery and wellbeing.

The week included:

  • New Cross Hospital – Our Drug and Alcohol Liaison Team (DALT) engaged with hospital staff, patients and visitors, promoting the specialist support available for people affected by alcohol and drug use.
  • Wolverhampton Central Library – The team met members of the public to discuss alcohol awareness, healthier choices and local recovery services.
  • Wolves at Work – Visitors were able to speak with staff about alcohol-related harm, access information about local support services and, where available, receive free liver health checks.
  • The Hub at Wolverhampton Railway Station – The campaign concluded with another community engagement event, giving commuters and local residents the opportunity to access advice, support and information, alongside free liver health checks.

Alcohol Awareness Week provides an important opportunity to start conversations about alcohol, reduce stigma and remind people that help is available. Thank you to everyone who visited our stands, our partner organisations and all those who helped make the week a success.

If you or someone you know is worried about alcohol or drug use, Recovery Near You offers free, confidential advice, support and treatment for adults and young people across Wolverhampton.
