Wolverhampton 360 is a city-wide substance misuse service for young people. We provide treatment to young people with alcohol or drugs misuse problems, as well as social support to young people or families who are ‘affected others’, meaning they are affected by someone else’s drug misuse. We work with other health organisations in Wolverhampton to give practical, down-to-earth support on issues with drugs, drink, health and your life in general.
As part of our support, we put on events for young people and families as well as organising trips. In the past, we’ve held coffee mornings and ‘posh teas’, as well as taking young people bowling and go-karting.
We recently took affected’ young people aged 5-11 and their families on a fun day out to Telford Park, Shropshire. We chose Telford Park as it has lots of green space for young people to get some fresh air away from the city and also meant travelling by train, which many of them haven’t done before.
The young people enjoyed going on rides and playing with other children in the playground, and the day was rounded off with some warm food and a goody bag prepared by the team.
“The day was a brilliant success! It was also great to hear that many families said they would definitely attend another event as they enjoyed it so much. It was truly heartwarming to see how much the children were enjoying themselves in this new environment; and seeing their faces light up is one of the reasons it’s so rewarding being a family practitioner at Wolverhampton 360″, Kacey McCann, Family Practitioner.”
Wolverhampton 360 is part of a wider organisation in Wolverhampton, Recovery Near You. This is a partnership between Nacro, Aquarius and NHS Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.
We’re based in Connaught Road, close to West Park. You can contact us or ask your teachers or parents to put you in touch – or ask at a chemist’s or doctor’s surgery. We’re here for you.
